i love ice. so. so. so. much: As if you needed further proof that there is something on the net for everyone, we present the Ice Chewers Bulletin Board. Apparently, it’s much, much more than grabbing a couple cubes out of the freezer. This site has it all: recipes (how to make a “gusher”), tips (8 pounds of ice at Sonic for $1.40!) and even some sex (because you can’t have an ice chewing forum without some freaky ladies). icechewing.com

You’re on notice, buddy: Honesty is the key word on anti-social networking sites. In an NPR interview, Snubster creator Bryant Choung lashed out at the “warchests” of friends people pile up on Friendster, Facebook and MySpace. On his site, people are just honesty pissed off. You can list things that are bothering you on your “On Notice” list, and if they don’t clean up their acts, move them over to the “Dead To Me” file. snubster.com

Laugh about it: Mixing serious-business updates with hilarious commentary, Comedy Central’s Indecision 2008 site squeezes in some election news while keeping the laughs coming. You’ll come for the stash of videos from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and other comedy events, and you’ll stay for the unflattering photos of candidates along with blogs and candidate interviews. indecision2008.com

Buy a one-of-a-kind: We know, you’d like to be the kind of person who buys handmade stuff, but it turns out you’re just too lazy to get to the farmer’s markets and fairs. Lucky for you, you wanna-be hippie, there’s a whole world of handmade goods waiting for you on Etsy. This site works to link artists and craftpersons with people looking for products not covered in lead paint or made by foreign sleep-deprived preteens.
Check out some of our favorite sellers: Beanies at pdxbeanies, jewelry by kathrynriechert and prints by kendrabinney. Or, use their Connections section to find other items in your style. If you’re an artist, consider checking out the site for selling your goods.

Buying smarter
: Last seen on grandpa’s coffee table, Consumer Reports isn’t exactly the voice of our generation. However, their website is a useful tool for shopping smart. For a $26 yearly membership, you can access thousands of unbiased ratings and recommendations. A printout from their site comes in handy when you’re staring at a wall of vacuum cleaners, trying to figure out which to buy. And it can save you money by keeping you from buying overpriced crap and lead you to the product that won’t break as soon as you take it out of the box. Plus, it will give you something to talk about with grandpa. consumerreports.org

CouchSurfing: Sleeping on strangers’ couches isn’t just for the drunk and unemployed anymore. In fact, it could help create a better world, at least that’s what the creators of the CouchSurfing Project hope.
Through their web site, the non-profit company matches the have-couches with traveling have-nots, helping people create more authentic trips to foreign lands.
There’s no guarantee you won’t be hacked to pieces by a psycho in your sleep, but the arrangements work on a system of verification and vouching from other members. Their site claims 265,115 positive experiences and a rate of just .2 percent negative experiences.
