Oct. 27: From 9 a.m. to noon, bring dogs to the dog-gone-friendly Colonial Spanish Quarter, 53 St. George St., downtown St. Augustine. Make sure doggies are dressed in costume for a Halloween Costume Contest, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. For guests without four-legged friends, Goliath and Bebe’s World will be onsite with adorably-adoptable pets. Haunted tour packages: Those interested in ghosts and goblins might enjoy a haunted pub lunch and dinner tour, priced from $12 to $16. There are also haunted hearse tours of the city, ranging from $15 to $30. A

Scary legends: Curley’s Place, 195 County Road 302 in Bunnell, will host several scary activities, including haunted hayrides, witch rescues missions, and tales and s’mores around the bonfire, every weekend in October. The frights begin at dark. Each event is $8. Call (386) 586-1180.

Through Oct. 31 - Spooky carriage ride: Forget romance and embrace the eerie on a spooky carriage tour. Country Carriages will provide a spooky tour of St. Augustine throughout October. Tours depart nightly at 7 and 10 p.m. from St. Augustine’s Bayfront. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for children ages 5 to 11. Reservations are required. Call 669-8361.

Oct. 27, 31 - Dark of the Moon: Venture into the Keepers’ House and Tower at night, learn about the history of the St. Augustine Light Station, listen to paranormal tales and experience darkness inside the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Tours begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $20 per child. Children must be at least 7 years old and 44 inches tall to climb the tower. Space is limited and reservations are required. Oct. 18-31 - Ripley’s ghost train: Board the Ghost Train for a ride throughout the haunted streets of old St. Augustine. Tales will be told at special stops, and guests can use electro-magnetic field meters to identify the presence of spirits. After hearing stories, passengers will enter the historic Castle Warden for a sleuthing experience of actual events. Tours start at 7 p.m. from Ripley’s Castle Warden, 19 San Marco Ave., downtown St. Augustine. Tickets are$24 for adults, and $12 for children ages 6-12. Reservations are required. Oct. 19, 26: Comedy: Ghosts, goblins and leprechauns Enjoy this hauntingly funny musical and comedic improvisation at McKnight’s Little Ireland. The fun begins at 8 p.m. at 113 Anastasia Blvd., on the island just over the temporary Bridge of Lions. Call 829-0870.

Oct. 19 - Horror Zone: Be there and be scared at a haunted house in the Belz at the Prime Outlet Mall, SR 16 and I-95, from 5 to 10 p.m. This safe Halloween event is hosted by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. The house will be there Oct. 19 through 21 and Oct. 26 through 31.

Oct. 19-21, 25-31 - Ghosts and gravestones: Enjoy haunting experience on the only tour that takes guests inside the three most haunted places in the entire city. Haunts include: The Old Drug Store that rests upon an old Indian burial ground; The Spanish Military Hospital; and The Old Jail built in 1891 and housed prisoners for more than 60 years (featured on the Sci-Fi Channel’s Ghost Hunters.) Oct. 25-27 - Haunted wagon ride: Ride along a “haunted” trail inhabited by ghouls, goblins, witches and mutated muggwumpsfrom 6 to 10 p.m. each day during this Halloween event at the Florida Agricultural Museum, 7900 Old Kings Road, Palm Coast. Museum and Flagler Volunteer Services have teamed up for this special event for the whole family. Music, dancing, food and (of course) free candy will be part of the event. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children; and museum members are admitted free. Call (386) 446-7630.

Oct. 25-31 - Ghosts of the Matanzas: Join the ghostly pirate that has commandeered the 72-foot Schooner Freedom and holds passengers captive as they sail the dark waters of Matanzas Bay. Entertaining tales and assistance from the captives are the highlight of this adventure — not to mention the rations and grog that add to
enjoyment. Tours start at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; at 8:15 and 9:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 6:45 and 8:15 on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Tickets are $35 for adults and kids 2 -12 are $25. For more information, call 810-1010. Reservations are required for these tours.

Oct. 26 - Night Owl Cinema double feature: “LEMONY SNICKET’S: A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS” and “THE SHINING”: Enjoy a double feature of scary movies at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, Florida’s newest outdoor arts and cultural venue. October 26 - Halloween bash: Dr. Jimmy Glenos will host his 23rd annual Halloween Bash, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Mark Lance Armory on San Marco Avenue, in uptown St. Augustine. Join Dr. Glenos and his staff for a fun-filled evening with prizes, music, food and contests. Guests are invited to dress in costume. Call 797-6353.

October 26-27, 31 - Ripley’s haunted tours and adventures: Have a hauntingly good time on one of Ripley’s Halloween tours or adventures. Take the Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure, Haunted Express, Mourning Tour or the Walking Ghost Adventure to experience the spookiest stories or to be a part of the sleuthing for spirits in the Nation’s Oldest City. Bring the kids to Ripley’s Garden for family-friendly stories. For

Lucky 13 on Halloween: Celebrate Halloween with Ghost Tours of Saint Augustine in a 13th anniversary party. Join tours that feature13 ghost stories and ghostly trivia - every 13th victim will receive a gift, and all guests will be treated to a beverage at St. Augustine Coffee Co. Tours start 7 p.m., with a tour departing every 15 minutes until 10 p.m. Tours offered by Ghost Tours of Saint Augustine include: “A Nightmare To Wake Up From,” beginning just south of the City Gates by the water wheel. Tickets are $18 per person; and “Ghosts and Legends,” a tour of that visits the lighthouse. It presents legends, murders and mysteries in the comfort of an enclosed, air-conditioned trolley. October 26-27 - A ghostly encounter: The doctor is in and he brought some friends to join guests on a spooky walk along the dark narrow streets of St. Augustine, where participants will hear tales of those who came before us and refuse to leave. Oct. 27 - Comedy: Ghosts, goblins and leprechauns Enjoy this hauntingly funny musical and comedic improv at McKnight’s Little Ireland Pub and McKnight’s Public House. In addition to the show, McKnight’s will also feature ghost story telling, ghostly tricks and treats, witchy potions, and a costume contest with prizes.
