Drift interviewed Oldest City surfing hero Gabe Kling last summer, but a lot has changed since then. He underwent surgery in October to repair a debilitating torn ligament in his ankle. He aced his first ASP World Tour heat back in the water at Pipeline in December. He narrowly missed out on getting a coveted injury wildcard that would have given him another shot at the Tour.
